Waynetown - May 30 -- Allen Stephens, 78, life long county resident died at his home here at 9:25 o'clock tonight of a complication of diseases after a nine weeks serious illness. He had been in failing health for two years. Mr. Stephens was born south of Crawfordsville Sept 5, 1861, a son of Robert and Eliza Burk Stephens. He was married twice, first to Margaret Earl Jan 2, 1883. She died and on Oct 29, 1908 he married Frances M. Jackman, who survives. He was a member of United Brethren Church. Surviving besides the widow are a daughter, Mrs. Lydia Hudson, Crawfordsville; three sons, Edward Stephens near Crawfordsville; Earl Stephens, Wingate and Roy Stephens Indianapolis; two brothers, William Stephens, Williamsport and Fred Stephens, Crawfordsville; three sisters, Mrs. Hettie Miles, Mrs. Elva Cedard and Mrs. Ida Gosnell, all of Crawfordsville; four grandchilren an two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the famiy residence Sunday afternoon at 2 - kbz
